Description:

The Student Cashier at the SUU Campus Store provides exceptional customer service while accurately processing transactions in a fast-paced retail environment. This role supports daily store operations, enhances the customer experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and contributes to a welcoming and efficient campus retail atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and approachable manner.
  • Accurately process purchases, returns, and exchanges using The Hello POS point-of-sale system.
  • Handle cash, credit/debit, and mobile payments in accordance with store policies.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and ensure transaction accuracy at all times.
  • Answer customer questions regarding store merchandise, promotions, and policies.
  • Assist with stocking shelves, organizing displays, and maintaining store cleanliness.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in Apple products and services in order to effectively assist customers, provide informed recommendations, and support the successful sale of Apple merchandise.
  • Support textbook and course material distribution during peak periods.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient store operations.
  • Follow all university and store policies, including loss prevention procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current student enrolled at Southern Utah University.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic math and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak periods (e.g., start of semester, athletic events).
